The 2 categories most often used in Ohio Cheerleading today are: All-Star Cheerleading and Competition Cheerleading. Both categories of cheerleaders must have high energy and training to perform precision motions, skilled jumps, be attuned to current dance, utilize proper voice control and portray ultimate spirit of persona.
Our Competition teams may be school or rec league sponsored. They pull double duty. Their main objective is as a leader in spirit to support a team. They may have grade point averages to maintain and the social responsibilities to uphold as a representative of their school. They should be expected to be junior leaders in their school or community.
All-Star cheerleaders are not sponsored by a school and do not cheer at games. You’ll find teams directed by cheer gyms, dance studios, gymnastics facilities, athletic clubs, community parks & recreation, YSO (Youth Sports Organizations), and private entity. The cheerleaders desire to compete for a number of reasons: they may have the athletic energy that needs to be applied and exploited. They may be looking for the upscale performance opportunities.
