An understanding of the core competencies and key factors that drive business growth and development will help you as an entrepreneur to keep your business securely on the fast track.
- Strategies
. Every fast-growing business starts with an idea, which turns into your business plan. Use the basis of your Business plan for your Strategic Plan. Developing more new services and/or expanding the number of services, teams, and products or breaking into new markets can drive growth.
- People and operations.
A key growth factor and a most important core competency. Companies that grow fast often have a key individual driving them forward – you - the person with the initial vision, energy and determination to step out. However, growing a business fast relies on teamwork. You need to draw in a group of individuals who you can trust, who share the same dreams and apply the same values, ethics and philosophies when trying to bring that dream alive.
On the operations side, a growing business needs to develop an appropriate infrastructure and keep adjusting that
infrastructure as the business grows. This involves gym equipment, mats, floors, walls, computer and phone systems,
processes and procedures, even basic training, storage and office space. Will you have enough room for your
expanded team(s) and staffers in six months’ time?
- You can’t grow fast without the right financing. Finding the right form of financial backing is crucial. Use effective roster tracking and accounts receivable. Check into a line of credit. Select fundraisers and sponsors with care. Develop relationships with your vendors. Maintain your equipment. Your large bank account does not ensure your business growth.
- Managing Risk
. The buzzword topic of all cheerleading. It is essential that you have solid risk management controls in place. Safety for your cheerleaders, yourself and your coaches cannot be overlooked. Develop an emergency plan for your facility and review it with your people. Promote injury prevention to everyone.
Managing all core competencies and growth drivers can be a complex challenge. As your business grows, new strategies and approaches may be required in each area. Entrepreneurs who understand and enforce these are likely to be leading the fastest-growing, most successful businesses.
