A Call For Nominations
OACC is seeking your input for the 2009 Board President, which will be announced in June 2009.
The Ohio Association of Cheerleading Coaches invites you to nominate a candidate for the position of President for the Board of Directors 2009 – 2011. Please feel free to share this Call for Nominations with others who might wish to submit a nomination.
Nominees may be a coach, director, affiliate or volunteer who has shown positive impact by encouraging healthy participation in cheerleading. The nominee should be a person of character who possesses leadership skills, is progressive, creative, organized, goal oriented and enjoys in promoting the success of others.
As established by the OACC bylaws, all nominations will be reviewed by a panel, the Nominations Committee, to develop the final list of nominees.
Nominations should include:
1. Name of nominee
2. An explanation of why he/she is/could be the right person for the position
3. Brief summary of accomplishments
4. Contact information for the nominee
5. Contact information from the person making the nomination
Deadline for nominations is Friday, May 22, 2009.
President
The position of President is open to anyone, members and non-members, including all the present governing Board members.
The successful candidate will serve for two years as President (June 2009 - June 2011), followed by two years as Past President, a member of the Advisory Board. (2011-2013).
Who may be nominated:
- A candidate does not have to be a member of the OACC to be nominated.
- Candidates should have a working knowledge of at least one of the arenas of cheerleading (Rec, scholastic, collegiate or all-star).
- Candidates should have a reasonable expectation of attending meetings of the governing Board.
- Should a member of the Nominations Committee be nominated for the position, they will forfeit their committee position and an alternate will be selected.
- A resident or coach in the state of Ohio.
- You may nominate yourself

:
- There is no restriction on the number of candidates you may nominate.
- You should ensure that your nominee is willing to stand
- The appointment of the position of President of the Board of Directors will be announced on the Ohio Association of Cheerleading Coaches’ Website in June 2009.
Committee Members, Chairs & Co-Chair Nominations
As announced, the OACC will be adding 4 new standing committees. Nominations are being accepted for the Committee Members and Chair Positions.
- Youth/Recreation and Peewee Committee
- Scholastic Committee – High School and Middle School/Jr High
- Collegiate Committee
- All-Star/Elite Committee
Ideally, the OACC would like to see each committee comprised of at least 8 members to represent the diverse regions of Ohio.
Responsibilities
Members: Identify issues specific to your level of cheer: coaching, teams, athletes, logistics, policies and procedures, concerns and problem issues, accolades and achievements. Report, share and brainstorm topics with fellow committee members and report to Chairperson(s) on cheerleading in your area.
Chairperson(s) : Provide a leadership role for the individual committees, act as a liaison to the other division committees. Facilitate meetings as needed. Assist with strategic planning. Act as an officer to the Board of Directors
Members may consist of Directors, Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Advisors, Parents and Student Athletes. Student Athletes under the age of 18 may be members of a committee, but may not hold a Chair position.
