How to Get involved

Membership in OACC today is pretty evenly divided between Youth, Scholastic, Colleges, All-Stars and Affiliates. The results provide invaluable services, opportunities and networking to members through OACC’s communications, web resources, services, professional development workshops, publications, idea sharing, and meetings.

OACC’s strongest asset is membership and the members' willingness to share skills, knowledge, and expertise. You can become an active participant in a number of ways. If you have experience or passion in a specific area or need to bring awareness or change to an issue and want to get involved then contact us. You’ll find activities that match your interests, skills, and availability. You have the opportunity to help determine quality standards and solution-based approaches that make the OACC a successful provider of cheer services and education state and nationwide.

Active members are the ones that make things happen at OACC by participating in and collaborating with other coaches, directors, parents, students, gym owners and competition hosts in the development of a wide variety of activities. The best way to become active is to join a committee. To see what area you might be interested in, read about the structures and philosophies of the OACC. Any Board member will be glad to help you find the area that interests you.

Involvement with OACC Committees provides our members with opportunities for professional growth and networking. It is our goal to make sure members have the tools and resources needed to enrich their career experiences within the spirit arena. We also believe strongly in the support and education of the student-athlete and empowerment for our spirit teams.

Committees meet or communicate to determine ways to bring professional development opportunities to our members. We want to ensure that we provide beneficial opportunities and resources to positively impact our field. The committees work with the other Committees of OACC as partners on many activities. Short-term study committees are often available. Whichever you decide the OACC Committees work together for the common good.

Some of these committees are only open to members, while others are open to anyone who wants to help. The members of some committees are selected by the Nominations Committee (to ensure diversity), while others are open to any volunteer.

We encourage you to get involved and develop your own relationship with the cheer and athletic activities communities.

It is our goal to make sure members have the tools and resources they need to be active members of their area, as well as the State of Ohio.

Make the most of your association!

Can we add a committee?

Sure. The climate of cheerleading is always changing. The OACC is coninually adding standing committees for special projects. Two of the committees discussed were: Promotions & Marketing Committee and a Membership Committee

Can we add or change the committes to separate the High school coaches from the rec leagues, collegiate or all stars? Again - yes we can.  However, cheerleading in Ohio must not get too fragmented.  Cohesion and solidarity will keep your sport strong.  There are issues that do address each level specifically, but you'd be surprised at the amount of information and knowledge you can gain from listening to the ideas and implimentations of others.

If you'd like to spearhead a committee of an issue, topic or project that is important to you - contact any board member or trustee.

Districts

DISTRICTS AND DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES

Territories Expanding!! Current 9 - proposed 16

Cheerleading is one of the top ten growing girls youth sports in the world.

Ohio is in one of the top 5 pockets of cheerleading activites in this Country.

The number of cheerleaders, dancers, gymnasts - Rec Leagues, Schools, Gyms, Studios and College teams is ever growing at a fast pace.

More Reps are needed to cover the growth.  The Districts will double.  Currently we have 9 reps covering all of Ohio.   We intend to have coverage for 14 to 20 Regional Areas.    Please inquire.

The Territory Reps have 2 main responsibiltiy:  Communication and Representation

  • Our District Reps are our eyes and ears for their local area. A District Reps serves as a resource person and supervisor.
  • Gather information, offer suggestions, work to identify problems, help maintain balance and offer new perspectives.
  • Collect information, questions, views and news for the newsletter and website.
  • The District reps are to keep their constituents informed about upcoming issues, solicit input, and report on awards, honors and milestones.
  • The Rep submits a yearly scholarship applicant for their district.

Reps duties include: Being alert and informed of all cheerleading organizations and functions in their area. Cover the colleges & universities in your area, unless a college representative is available. We encourage you to find an alternate for your position. A Co-Rep is permissible in some areas. Contact us for more information.
