During the past ten years, a tremendous explosion of knowledge has occurred in sport and exercise sciences. Theories in coaching and training of our young athletes have become of utmost importance to the Cheerleading field as cheerleading has become the fastest growing youth sport in the world!

The OACC has planned a series of volumes to help bridge the gap between the information and the exploitation.

We shall bring you facts and basic information related to exercise in general and in cheer – specific. This is an exciting and challenging step forward in the area of injury prevention and sport safety education. Each volume shall contain articles authored by authorities in their respective areas. They were selected on their ability to communicate their ideas at a very practical level. This is not replacement for your individual physician’s advice. Each author and organization is recognized as passionate about safety and injury prevention and their knowledge should bring you a better understanding of the requirements needed for cheerleading and bring you an awareness of the elements of growing bodies and minds.

The authors go beyond facts to show you why each element is important. You will find topics such as:

  • General overview of fitness
  • Emphasis on cheer, dance, gymnastics specific
  • Cardio Intensity
  • Nutritional Aspects
  • Hydration
  • Eating Disorders
  • Sports Supplements
  • Proper Equipment
  • Shoes & Clothing
  • Research in Cheer Injuries
  • Interpretation of the Exploitation of the data
  • Heat, Cold – weather and environmental elements
  • Allergies exercise Induced Asthma
  • Emergency planning
  • Warming Up
  • Cooling Down
  • Cheer Specific Exercises
  • Migraines
  • Scoliosis

  • Bones, Ortho info
  • Concussions
  • Sprains, strains, pulls
  • Transition from Sideline to AllStar
  • Transition from AllStar to Elite
  • Sports Psychologists info:

The information provided is designed at the individual within the group. Training that’s right for one, isn’t necessarily the same rate for all. As a result, this concerted effort will aid in awareness to coaches, trainers, directors, parents and student-athletes to take into account the differences in abilities, capacities, health issues, likes and dislikes to improve your training, practices, game, performance and competition agendas.
